DR. PHYLLIS A. PORTER, CEO

Dr. Phyllis A. Porter is a dynamic leader, personal, business, and educational consultant, and passionate advocate for students, parents, teachers, school staff, administrators, families, and individuals who need help navigating challenging situations.

With more than 37 years of experience in education, leadership, consulting, and advocacy, Dr. Porter has dedicated her career to helping people solve problems, overcome obstacles, and achieve meaningful results.

Her leadership and entrepreneurial spirit began early. At just 10 years old, she opened a neighborhood candy store, recruited and trained other children to work with her, and taught them basic math, inventory, responsibility, and customer service. Those early experiences helped shape a lifelong commitment to leadership, education, problem solving, and helping others succeed.

Dr. Porter began her professional career in education as a substitute teacher in 1987. Through determination, continued education, mentorship, and hard work, she advanced from teacher to assistant principal, principal, university project director, consultant, and CEO of PPES Inc. Since founding PPES Inc. in 1999, she has provided programs, consulting, professional development, and educational services to hundreds of Chicago Public Schools.

Known by many as the “Guru of Education” and “The Fixer,” Dr. Porter specializes in identifying problems and developing practical solutions. Her work has addressed classroom management, student discipline, parent involvement, school leadership, staff morale, attendance, curriculum, professional development, organizational improvement, and student achievement.

Her own experiences overcoming professional and personal challenges strengthened another important part of her life's work: advocacy. Today, Dr. Porter assists individuals with organizing information, researching resources, preparing professional correspondence, asking the right questions, communicating concerns, and determining appropriate next steps.

Her philosophy is simple:

If there is a problem, there is a starting point. If she cannot provide the solution, she will work to help identify someone who can.

Whether she is supporting a student, parent, teacher, principal, school, business, family, or individual seeking direction, Dr. Porter remains committed to one mission:

Helping people move from problems to possibilities, and from possibilities to solutions.
